Spatial Audio Capture


The team have been activity engaged over the last 4 years experimenting in workshops to create the latest techniques in capturing spatial audio. We have acquired in this time the Skills knowledge and equipment configurations to capture audio in the highest resolution. We push the boundaries and are always learning.

Binaural

Binaural recording is a method of recording sound that uses two microphones, arranged with the intent to create a 3-D stereo sound sensation for the listener of actually being in the room with the performers or instruments. Binaural is static and cannot be manipulated in post once captured. However spatial audio mixes can be rendered Binaurally this allows them to be transmitted and broadcast as  stereo signals and experienced using headphones.

Ambisonics

Ambisonics is a full-sphere surround sound format: in addition to the horizontal plane, it covers sound sources above and below the listener. Unlike other multichannel surround formats, its transmission channels do not carry speaker signals. The availability of Ambisonics microphones for capture, DAW such as Reaper and YouTube and Facebook providing tools for delivery,  is making Ambisoincs a standard in immersive audio production workflow.

AMBEO Cube

The AMBEO Cube was developed by Sennheiser. We have been working with this method for a few years now and we love it there is no doubting it is expensive but the results are outstanding the response and accuracy is unparalleled, this combined with the intuitive plugin developed by the AMBEO team makes the post production a joy.

The AMBEO Cube consists of 9 x Sennheiser MKH800 twin dual diaphragm  microphones. The array is laid out as Bottom: Left, Centre, Right, left Surround, Right Surround and Top: Left, Right, Left Surround and Right Surround. The microphones are positioned in a cube configuration Left to Right between  3.2m - XXXX  Front to Back between 2.6m - xxx  and Bottom to Top between 1.6to xxx  Bottom layer at a height of between 2m - xxx.

The MKH800 twin microphone has a dual capsule controlled by Sennheiser deigned plug in that allows the image to change from Cardioid Front, Cardioid Back, Fig 8 or Omni directional. This gives you complete control in Post Production on the direction of sound.

Sound Field Calibration


As you would expect we have become pretty adept at calibration. We have spent hours developing techniques and testing different systems in order to deliver cost effective and time efficient ways to calibrate multichannel spatial loudspeaker systems.
